Terms of Service
Last updated June 6, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the website at sync.buzz, including the email waitlist and the optional account, team, and billing services for our upcoming hosted product (collectively, the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. The Sync software itself is open source and licensed separately (see below).
1. The service
The Sync software is open source and runs locally in your own git repository — it stores knowledge as plain YAML under .sync/ and is distributed under the Functional Source License (FSL-1.1-MIT) at github.com/sync-buzz/sync. Today this website is our landing site and an email waitlist for the team and cloud features we're building; joining the waitlist simply means giving us your email so we can tell you when those features are ready, and you can ask to be removed at any time. As the hosted account, team, and subscription-billing services roll out to waitlist members, they are also covered by these Terms.
2. Accounts
If and when you create an account for the hosted team and billing features, you agree to provide accurate information when registering and to keep your credentials secure. You are responsible for everything that happens under your account.
Sign-in uses OAuth via GitHub or Google. Keep access to those provider accounts secure, since they control access to yours.
3. Your knowledge stays with you
Knowledge created with the Sync software stays in your own git repository — this website neither hosts nor stores it. You retain all rights to it, and your use of the open-source software is governed by its license, not these Terms.
Any account or team data you provide to this website (company names, member lists, billing details) must not violate any law or third-party right, and you must have the authority to share it with your team.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service to store or transmit unlawful, infringing, or malicious content.
- Attempt to disrupt, reverse engineer, or gain unauthorised access to the Service or to any other team's data.
- Send automated traffic that materially exceeds the documented rate limits or that is designed to degrade the Service for other users.
5. AI agents and integrations
The Sync software is designed to be used by both humans and AI agents (Claude Code, Cursor, Zed, and other MCP clients). You are responsible for the actions any agent takes on your behalf, including knowledge it writes, modifies, or deletes inside your repository.
6. Beta features
Some features are clearly labelled as beta or experimental. They may change, behave unexpectedly, or be removed at any time. We do not provide service-level commitments for beta features.
7. Availability and changes
We strive to keep Sync available but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may add, modify, or remove features as the product evolves. Material changes that affect existing functionality will be announced before they take effect when reasonably possible.
8. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms or use the Service in a way that endangers other users. Your knowledge is unaffected — it lives in your own repository.
9. Disclaimer
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sync and its team are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from your use of or inability to use the Service.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent change. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
